As an expressive photographer, I see the emotional side of wildlife and anything nature! Originally from Florida, I felt an incredible connection to Colorado the moment I moved here! The textures this State offers bring me peace and serenity as I discover the many beautiful places here. For many years, I have looked at the world through the lens of a camera and have found beauty in all things nature. Often telling my beautiful fearless granddaughter, who I am raising, not to give up on her dreams, has brought me back to mine. I decided I should take the advice I was giving my granddaughter as something kept calling me to help rescue these incredible wild horses and share their images with the rest of the world. This led to our creation of the Banditas Wild Horse Promise non-profit organization.

My name is Amanda DeNeice. I have lived in Routt County, Colorado for my entire life. I am married to my incredible husband Brian, and we have two amazing teenage children, Lillian and Leornard (Kaden). The wild horses of Sand Wash Basin were introduced to me by my husband 8 years ago. The beautiful high desert country is one of our favorite places to camp. From the first moment I saw the horses roaming wild and free across the open range, I developed a love for them that has only grown stronger with time. I immediately felt a closeness with every horse I encountered on my numerous trips to Sand Wash Basin. I spent many hours photographing them and even more time simply observing everything they did in their daily lives. I am in awe of everything the wild horse stands for but because of the round ups, their very existence is threatened. My love and devotion to these American Icons has only grown stronger and it is my mission through Banditas Wild Horse Promise to find and provide a safe and loving home for every wild horse that has lost its freedom.

Gary
Director
As a 40 year veteran and executive in the banking industry, I spent my career managing production offices throughout the United States. Having lived in Colorado for several years after graduating from college in the early 70s and living in numerous geographic locations during my banking career, I decided to move back to Colorado permanently in 2009 and subsequently retired here in 2017. After opening Gould Consulting LLC in 2018, I began looking for a worthwhile cause to dedicate some of my newfound “free” time. In speaking with a number of friends about the situation in the Sand Wash Basin and the plight of the wild horses living there, I felt compelled to get involved. I was approached by the members of the non-profit Banditas Wild Horse Promise and asked to allow them to place a number of these horses on my ranch in Loveland, Colorado. After overcoming my initial hesitancy, I agreed. Since transitioning these horses, I have become a Director of the Banditas organization. Working to solve the issues of how to best assist these wild mustangs to regain their freedom is an incredible challenge and is proving to be extremely heartfelt and gratifying.
